"I'm very close to my heritage and in Arizona, I feel connected to the community but I want other locals to understand what it means to be Native American. Most times I see people taking it [feminism] so seriously and I wanted to show it in a way that was comedic but got the point across," Blumenthal said. These photographs capture the essence of local artists and different mediums of artwork. Each photograph is of a young local artist's work. The significance of these photos is that they showcase the talent within the Phoenix community and how their artwork represents more than meets the eye. Each photograph tells a story about who the artist is and what each piece represents. Within each image is a caption or quote from the artist about what their craft means to them and how their artwork inspires the community.
Every piece showcased comes from college students struggling to find time to fuel their creative outlets. In this photography campaign, they share their stories of avoiding “creative burnout” and turning their frustration into art. Explore and see what art means to these local artists and how the community has impacted them.
